What is an OpenHIE Endorsing Organization (OEO)?Endorser?
An OpenHIE Endorser The term “OpenHIE Endorsing Organization” (OEO) is an organization or agency that supports the OpenHIE mission, vision, and values of the OpenHIE Community. While these organizations Endorsers do not provide direct leadership they support the community as champions to help achieve its goals in solidarity with our focus populations. For example, organizations Endorsers may share the notion of a community of practice and then the power it has to move sustainable global health goals forward. In return, the community serves as a milieu that advances the OEO organization’s Endorsers knowledge/experience, collaboration opportunities, and reputation within the global health informatics community.
Why does OpenHIE have an
OEOEndorser program?
The OEO Endorser program is meant to bring together donor and funding organizations wanting to support organizational champions of data exchange in support of OpenHIE community members and their global health projects under our focused on HIE architecture frameworks and standards under the community of practice structure of knowledge sharing towards better architecture framework and standards.

Those organizations that are successful Successful participants within the community describe many benefits of participationendorsing OpenHIE:
Influence
- Opportunity to identify new collaborators within the community and through partner connections achieve global impact in digital health and use of health data to achieve country health goals.
- Help advance the direction of the OpenHIE community by helping iterate the OpenHIE community strategic plan.
- Influence specific reference technology considerations and help address issues within the OpenHIE Architecture, through commitment to OpenHIE Architecture Principles
Exposure
- Awareness of funding organization priorities
- Opportunities to align with funders to ensure less project/budget overlap Your organization can directly contribute to the OpenHIE mission by helping support the community and its members.
- Understand community strategy and goals;
- Learn about and support emerging country/stakeholder HIE initiatives through participation
- Identify and team up with other OPOs (where appropriate) on business development and implementation opportunities
Promotion
- Listed on landing and OpenHIE Partnering Organizations page, with an opportunity to create a profile of organizational capabilities
- Showcasing the work of OPOs and the country stakeholders they support through OpenHIE community communications channels
- Featured blogs, thought-pieces, and cross-promotion of your organization’s work through OpenHIE communications platforms (website, wiki, discourse, webinars, social media)
- Present/participate at conferences, webinars, and other public-facing events
- Aid in decision making around resources to support impacts in the areas of health care/aid/etc
- See viable patterns and tools that would best position supporting programs to achieve success
- Give feedback on community activities
- Promotion of your organization or agency on the OHIE website as an endorser of OpenHIE
- Opportunity to be featured in blogs, develop thought pieces and participate in OpenHIE forums

You will:
... serve as exemplars of OpenHIE’s mission, vision and values showcase the community of support, the existing knowledge, and where we’ve had success before
... showcase how common architecture and design can bridge between vertical programs, how this is a pattern for information systems that supports sustainability
... showcase how OpenHIE has been used/implemented to impact health objectives and outcomes as well as how OpenHIE can contribute to improved health outcomes etc
... endorse the use of standards for data sharing across HIE frameworks... share or encourage sharing of country implementation activities
... serve as community OpenHIE Community supporters and ambassadors through the digital health ecosystem and encourage a broader representation in OpenHIE processesecosystem
... be provided opportunities to hear what the OHIE leadership committees are planning, learn about priorities from the Community and provide feedback and advice.

Your Experience. Check-ins:
- You will touch base with the OHIE Secretariat or Operational Working Committee Member(s)on an annual basis to discuss your experience and commitment.
- You will resign recommit your endorsement agreement every five years.with OpenHIE annually.
