What is the eHealth Leadership Forum?

The eHealth Leadership Forum (eHLF) is a peer learning group for countries dealing with similar place for country digital leaders to learn from one another, as they work through the various issues related to building and operationalizing eHealth strategies.!

As the African EHLF works with countries interested in health data architectures, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting many country eHealth leaders, such as yourself. Your work is challenging on many levels, as you try to build and operationalize a digital health Leader, you know how challenging it can be, building and operationalizing eHealth strategies, while coordinating the work of governments, donors, implementers, and other interested parties. All while simultaneously trying to align this work with the goals of health leadership within the country! We recognize how hard this work is, and on behalf of the OpenHIE community, we are committed to helping you succeed. Many country-level eHealth leaders would love to learn how their

The eHLF gives you the space to learn from peers in other countries who are dealing with similar issues

. While you might already have some of these peer relationships, there really isn’t an easy place to interact with everyone. Fortunately, the OpenHIE Steering Committee has made similar observations. We seek to launch a peer-learning forum, supported by the OpenHIE secretariat

. Based upon Forum member interest, we

host events, invite relevant experts to activities, and bring relevant content

to help you all work effectively with one another!

    Joining the eHealth Leadership Forum

The typical example of an eHLF community member is a digital health leader either designated by a country MOH or related national level organization.  They tend to be more strategically focused, and serve in an oversight and coordinative role at a regional or national level. Leadership can be defined differently depending on the local context.  Examples of great fits for this community include national government digital health leaders, leaders within recognized regional bodies, country level & regional level WHO Offices, as well as any team leaders responsible for in country implementations related to OpenHIE. We encourage those who are formally representing country leadership and helping to design eHealth strategies to reach out to the OpenHIE Secretariat to learn more. Existing members of the eHLF are expected to commit to at least 1 hour per month as well as also assist with recruiting new members.

The OpenHIE secretariat supports call logistics and the hosting space for documentation, but topics for discussion are determined & lead by those members that are providing in country leadership. The secretariat works to coordinate scheduling of meetings & meeting agenda in consultation with the Chair. The OpenHIE secretariat needs help from members to identify other peers who might benefit the forum which is why existing members are expected to assist in recruiting/ recommending new members.
