Welcome to the OpenHIE Facility Registry Community!

Image Added

The OpenHIE Facility Registry Community (OHIE-FR) Community supports the development and implementation of technologies to create for health facility registries. This tool is designed to serve as the central authority to uniquely identify locations where health services are administered within a country. The OHIE-FR community undertakes three main areas of ongoing activity, including:

Implementation Support

The OHIE Facility registry community supports a growing number of implementations of national facility registries.  (E.g., Tanzania and Rwanda).  We also are drafting a Prescriptive Implementation Guide to support requirements based implementations of facility registry tools.  Details regarding ongoing projects can be found here: Implementation Projects

OHIE-FR Community

OHIE-FR supports a group of e-Health experts to work on issues regarding APIs, architecture and standards.  Results from this group include the open source FRED-API, which is intended to facilitate integrations between a facility registry and other eHealth systems. This group is open to all and meets twice a month. Details to connect, minutes, and recordings can be found here: OHIE-FR Meetings

We are also actively organizing facility registry implementers to discuss issues, best practices and strategies related to the creation and use of a facility registry.  Details will be announced shortly.

Get Started!

To get started, learn more and ask your questions:

  1. Join the OHIE-FR Google Group Mailing List
  2. Contact Scott Teesdale and Eduardo Jezierski to get connected to resources, people and meetings

This includes the design and creation of a Master Facility List (MFL), or standardized data detailing health facilities and facility registries, the tool that acts as the authority to collect, manage, store, and share facility data.

OHIE-FR aims to engage FR architects, implementers, and most importantly those who use, maintain or have and need for FRs in their countries.  Collectively, the community will help:

  • identify, establish, and share guidelines for FR architecture
  • support those seeking guidance on implementation of FRs
  • serve as a platform to share lessons learned, through the showcasing of country level FR implementations
