Welcome to the OpenHIE Facility Registry Community!

The OpenHIE Facility Registry (OHIE-FR) Community supports the development and implementation of technologies to create and maintain country driven health facility registries.  This includes the design and creation of a Master Facility List (MFL), or physical data describing health facilities, and the facility registry that is the tool that acts as the central authority to collect, manage and share the MFL.

The OHIE-FR community includes two main areas of activity:

OHIE-FR Community Meetings

OHIE-FR Technical Meeting: Organizes and supports a group of technical experts to work on issues regarding open APIs, HIE architecture, facility registry tools, and standards.  These meetings have been key in the creation of the open source FRED-API, which is intended to facilitate integrations between a facility registry and other eHealth systems. This group is open to all and meets twice a month. Details to connect, minutes, and recordings can be found here: OHIE-FR Meetings

OHIE-FR Implementers Meeting: We are also actively organizing facility registry implementers to discuss issues, best practices, and strategies for the creation and use of a facility registry.  Details on topics and upcoming meetings will be announced in the near future.

Implementation Support

The OHIE Facility registry community also supports a growing number of implementations of national facility registries. (E.g., Tanzania and Rwanda).  To support future countries we also are drafting a Prescriptive Implementation Guide to detail a requirements based approach of implementing a facility registry.  Details regarding ongoing projects can be found here: Implementation Projects
